BaNgKok 09 Day One

she ventured out before the light...
early morning meeting to procure
blue and red mobile fones for our stay.
i slept a little while longer
listening to the lightning
and watching the thunder

11th floor of the (q)Ueen bldg
i exercise on the balcony
as the roosters laugh at me
from somewhere far below.
the sweat comes quickly while
bouncing to thai pop picked
up on my nifty sansa fuse.
the songs are pure thai sugarcane
then as if i were suddenly transported home
the dJ breaks in and says 93.9 True Thai Hits
before sending me back to songs in a foreign voice
...exercise complete

we share an umbrella under the drizzle
and walk through the campus of Assumption U
several old friends stop us and hug her
giggling as if she´d never left
then over to P´A´s mom´s restaurant for breakfast
mmmm gra pao gai with scrambled eggs!
(plenty of prik nam pla)
dodged more raindrops to a songTao
that zipped us to the pharmacy
for soaps shampoos and all our necessaries for the stay.

how could i forget! two stops at Jar´s Coffee Stand
chilled aMericanos for me and hot cappucinos for her

getting ready to meet the Ps for lunch
on a drizzly delightful first day
